“I Had To Run Away”: New report by Human Rights Watch
Since the fall of the Taliban government in 2001, Afghan women have seen improvements in their lives in the areas of education, maternal mortality, employment, and their role in public life and governance. Yet a new Human Rights Watch report released last week: “I had to run away – The Imprisonment of Women and Girls for “Moral Crimes” in Afghanistan” denounces the imprisonment of women and girls for “moral crimes”, including for running away from domestic violence or forced marriage. See how the media around the world have been covering the release of the report.
