Summary	The 2008 GLOBAL SYMPOSIUM "Going to Scale: Engaging Men and Boys in Achieving Gender Equality" will be held on 10-14 November 2008 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The objectives are: To increase involvement of men and boys in gender equality and the reduction of violence against women by promoting opportunities to scale up existing work and mobilize communities. To engage in skills-building and capacity building for NGOs committed to working with men and boys for gender equality. To promote dialogue between existing NGO efforts, government officials and private sector. To highlight existing policies and good practices. To strengthen, build and expand a growing international network of programs, activists and government officials.

A balance of skills and capacity building with opportunities to learn from and share with expertise gathered from around the world

Not a heavy academic focus
An ongoing and interactive Best Practice Exposition for organizations to share their work
Multiple opportunities for Regional collaboration, planning and networking
Equal time devoted to important issue areas
All with a view to how we take this important work to scale
